MillenniuM supported the FAA with the design, implementation, and utilization of a
proactive approach to oversight using System Safety and Risk Management practices
with ATOS.
ATOS is a lifecycle system deployment and operation effort that is combined with business
process re-engineering efforts to change how the FAA conducts safety oversight of our
nation’s air carriers. MillenniuM designed and implemented ATOS to help FAA target their
Inspector resources to areas that represent the greatest safety risk at a specific carrier
or across the aviation industry. ATOS provides FAA inspectors with the capability to
dynamically retarget efforts to meet changes to circumstances and environmental factors
that warrant closer attention.
ATOS is designed to help the FAA manage its oversight consistently across carriers
with an approach that helps discover root problems and provide the perspective to affect
corrective actions at a systemic level. This approach helps the FAA achieve the greatest
levels of effectiveness in ensuring safety for the flying public.
