| AEGIS2
AEGIS2 integrates and aggregates Safety data and information from systems like OPSS and ATOS to build a composite picture of aviation safety. This perspective provides a complete picture of the state of safety at any given time, along with the supporting details to take definitive action if needed. AEGIS2 brings together information in a command and control format to support quick decision making, while providing access to the source data for in-depth analysis all within a consistent and unified framework. The span of AEGIS2 covers the range of FAA’s information from findings of single inspector’s inspection, to changes in carrier operating characteristics.
AEGIS2 looks at not only the data that is being collected, but how that data is collected and how the collected data relates across multiple air carriers. This insight assists with identifying possible changes to the state of aviation safety that may require either increased air carrier surveillance or national level remediation activities. This same information provides insight as to the effectiveness of programs like ATOS and possible areas for review and improvement or identifies areas requiring more specific focused attention. AEGIS2 also compares data between systems like ATOS and OPSS by looking at similar areas to highlight discrepancies that need to be further investigated and validated. This comparative capability is important to root cause analysis and identifying the most effective corrective actions. AEGIS2 also associates and relates actual experiences with plan identified risk areas and identifies deviations or variances across all targeted activities.
With AEGIS2, FAA Flight Standards Managers posses the ability to track the findings of their various systems as well as the performance of their systems and target corrective actions for internal improvement or oversight/enforcement action at the national or field office perspective.
